Because
the concept of an indoor Caribbean Island is so
unique and has never before been available to the
American public, many of our guests arrive with
a multitude of questions. Below are some of the
most commonly asked questions…and answers.
What
exactly is Cerulean Blues?
Located
in the heart of St. Louis, on the banks of the
mighty Mississippi, Cerulean Blues is a pristine,
authentic Caribbean Island beach housed within
a large temperature and humidity controlled structure.
All the scenery, the scents and sounds of the
indigenous flora and fauna, the gently lapping
ocean shoreline and even the beach itself has
been painstakingly designed to provide our guests
with a total sensory-immersive experience of actually
being in a tropical Caribbean Island Oasis.
Is
it a real beach?
We've taken
great care to create the most natural and authentic
indoor Caribbean beach possible, from the salinity
of the "ocean", the waves gently lapping onto
the shoreline, the imported white sand beneath
your feet, the living palm trees growing among
the dunes to even the sounds of the native animals
echoing in the distance.
What's
the climate like?
The
air inside Cerulean Blues is clean, fresh, humidity
controlled and is carefully maintained at a balmy
86-88°F and the ocean temperature is kept at a
constant inviting 76-78°F.
Will
I get a sun-burn?
No, our guests
are never exposed to harmful high-energy UVA or
UVB rays but instead are bathed in low-energy,
full-spectrum lighting. For those visitors specifically
wanting to work on their tan, we also offer the
use of our tanning salon.
What
should I wear?
You
may arrive wearing any normal attire but you'll
definitely want to bring a beach towel and your
bathing suit so you can change into it in one
of our many dressing areas. Small storage lockers
are also available to secure any of your personal
items.
Are
food and drinks allowed?
In order to
maintain a clean, sanitary and pristine beach
environment, no outside food, beverages or containers
are permitted. However, as part of the Caribbean
Island experience, our Sand Bar & Grill provides
an extensive selection of menu items ranging from
a simple burger, fries and soda to authentic Caribbean
Island cuisine and features a wide variety of
refreshing tropical frozen drinks and spirits.
Are
the birds, monkeys and other animals tame?
In
reality, to achieve the realistic animal sounds
our guests hear, Cerulean Blues employs only state-of-the-art
animatronics using high resolution digitally recorded
animal calls, songs and sounds to complete the
illusion of a thriving island-indigenous biological
ecosystem (though spotting the "animals" among
the foliage is always great fun for our younger
guests).
Doesn't
maintaining an idyllic indoor island biosphere require
a lot of energy?
Yes it does,
but recognizing that we live in world in dire
need of more environmentally-friendly businesses,
Cerulean Blues prides itself on being as "green"
as possible by using a mixture of currently available
as well as emerging energy-production technologies.
The result of this novel approach means that Cerulean
Blues not only meets all its own energy demands
required to maintain its Caribbean Island environment,
but typically generates surplus energy which is
then made available for public use.
What
are the hours of operation?
Because
Cerulean Blues is a completely enclosed environment,
searing summer heat, frigid winter cold or any
type of foul weather becomes irrelevant. We are
open 7-days a week, 365-days a year and virtually
never close. As the day turns to night however,
the lighting does dim and the atmosphere changes
from one of whole-family fun to one suited to
more mature island play, relaxation and revelry.
How
much does it cost?
We have
taken great care to arrive at a price point that
makes Cerulean Blues affordable to everyone and
even offer special discounts to allow seniors,
schools and children's organizations to enjoy
the unique benefits of our world class tropical
island paradise.
